ned over three years at the legendary Snak

Britains Jack Gallagher is not your typical professional wrestler. The 26-year-old has a 2-0 record in amateur MMA with two first-round submissions, and has trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu for eight years, as well as in boxing and kickboxing. If you dont think MMA is influenced by pro wrestling, youve got your head in the sand, and definitely vice-versa, Gallagher told ESPN.Gallagher, from Manchester, England, is one of three British representatives in WWEs Cruiserweight Classic, a tournament starting Wednesday night on the WWE Network featuring 32 competitors from 16 different countries.Theres an incredibly international flavour, he added. Everyones bringing their own style. I really believe Im bringing the British style to the tournament, as well as Noam Dar from Scotland, Zack Sabre Jr. representing England as well. Were bringing the British style back. I know were all incredibly influenced by the traditional British style. That style was honed over three years at the legendary Snake Pit gym in Wigan, England, competing in catch-as-catch-can wrestling -- a hybrid grappling style that is one of the foundations of modern MMA.Its the largest stage Ive ever had to perform on, both as a professional wrestler and as well as an athlete, said Gallagher, who has appeared in English promotions Futureshock Wrestling and Grand Pro Wrestling.Having it lean much more towards a sports era -- particularly from a British standpoint, the old world of sport-era wrestling was much more like a sport, we had weight brackets in a similar manner. I think its very good, I think its very interesting for the WWE audience as well.I think it can influence WWE, but I dont think theres a chance this becomes the norm, though. I think what WWE is doing now is theyre trying to create as wide an audience as they can.Its the best time to be a professional wrestler, and its the best time to be a professional wrestling fan. Because if you like the sports stuff, we have sports stuff. If you like the pure entertainment stuff, we have the pure entertainment stuff. It is a variety show of true proportions now.I think pro wrestling has an understanding of really the business were in, in entertaining people. Pro wrestling, and I know pro wrestlers, look at everything. Were not just limited to MMA, to the television or the movies weve seen, books, poetry. Anything we can do to entertain the people thats what were doing.Gallagher said he was rooting for Brock Lesnar at UFC 200 against Mark Hunt. Hes the representative of pro wrestling in the UFC, of course, he said.If you look at terms of numbers, Brock Lesnar is the biggest PPV draw in MMA history. I think the WWE audience is so strong he crossed over in that sense. I still think probably the WWE has a stronger audience than the UFC.Former WWE star Daniel Bryan, who was forced to retire in February aged just 34 due to concussion problems, will commentate on the show along with Mauro Ranallo, who has previously commentated for MMA organisations Pride Fighting Championships, Elite XC and Strikeforce, as well as on boxing for U.S. television network Showtime. My personal favourite style of wrestling is wrestling called as a sport. But I am very biased in that one general direction, Bryan told ESPN with a laugh. The presentation, it is like sport. Its a very sports-like feel. I dont know if thats where theyre [WWE] going, going forward, but thats something that I love about it, and something that really drew me to it.Knowing that Mauro Ranallo was going to be the commentator with me kind of gave me that feel, anyways. Mauro is a great, great commentator. And he likes calling it as a sport.Him and I had talked, then Triple H and I had talked, and William Regal and I had talked. And they kept reiterating to me this sports-like feel that they wanted from this. The biggest tweak compared to usual WWE programming is that all 32 competitors have to pass a legitimate 205-pound weigh-in before each round of matches, with five alternates on standby should any fail to make the cut.Competitors will also be brought to the centre of the ring after each match with the winners hand raised by the referee, in another nod to MMA and boxing.I love the completely overhauled look, the overhauled presentation, Bryan said. I love the fact theres not a stage where people do their entrance from. With [WWE shows] Raw and Smackdown, theres this big stage which separates you from the crowd, you walk down this giant ramp. One of the things that I loved about, for example, 80s NWA [National Wrestling Alliance] was that Arn Anderson would just walk up to the crowd and people would try to grab him.I think thats one of the neat things about UFC as well, is that theres not this big stage and ramp where people come down to the cage. So I think the presentation is really neat, and the tournament format really lends itself to that sporty feel. Its a lot of how wrestling used to be presented. The weigh-ins -- the catch tournaments in Germany would do that before every show. When you talk about the Fit Finlays and William Regals who did all those tournaments in Germany -- I did one in Germany in 2003 at one of the carnivals -- thats the way they opened every show, with that very legitimate sports feel.?Thats what I grew up loving about wrestling -- focusing less on storylines. But just because youre focusing less on storylines doesnt mean youre not telling stories, because each of these guys has their own incredible story as to how they got to the Cruiserweight Classic. But thats what happens in sports as well. When youre watching sports, the commentators are talking about the action. But theyre also talking about the people who are in the action. Thats kind of what were doing. Antonio Callaway Hoodie. Q: Team Canada announces their Olympic roster three weeks from today. Who is general manager Steve Yzerman watching? LeBrun: Over the last 48 hours, hes taken in the home-and-home between the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche with Jamie Benn and Matt Duchene being the obvious targets. . Two pressure cooker bombs exploded near the finish line of the April 15 race in an area packed with fans cheering the passing runners. Three people were killed and more than 260 injured, including at least 16 who lost limbs. Jim Brown Hoodie. Genard Avery Hoodie. -- About a third of the way through the regular season, the Washington Wizards are at . ROME -- In terms of salaries, Atalanta ranks 15th in Serie A. On the field, however, its been a different story for the provincial club, which has relied on homegrown talent to become the best team in the Italian league over the last seven rounds. After gaining 19 out of a possible 21 points since Sept. 26, Atalanta has rocketed up the standings to fifth place to make qualifying for Europe a distinct possibility. The Bergamo squad has won four straight and achieved three consecutive clean sheets in which it has outscored the opposition 7-0.Were on a fantastic streak but the most important thing has been the way weve been playing and that the squad and players have been improving continuously, Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini said.Gasperinis job was at risk when Atalanta lost four of its five opening matches, but club president Antonio Percassis faith in the coach has proved decisive.Atalanta features nine homegrown players on its first team -- the most in Serie A -- and regularly uses them.Players like 22-year-old defenders Mattia Caldara and Andrea Conti, 21-year-old striker Andrea Petagna -- all members of Italys under-21 squad -- and 22-year-old midfielder Roberto Gagliardini, who was given his first call up to Italys senior national team this month after only nine Serie A appearances, are in the team. Then theres 19-year-old Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessie, who first spent time on the youth squad after arriving in January 2015. He leads the team with four goals this season. Its a matter of pride for us and for the club, Gagliardini said of the widespread use of homegrown players.Added Caldara: Were friends before were teammates. The youth movement was on full display in Atalantas last match, a 3-0 win at Sassuolo in which Caldara and Conti scored and Gagliardini provided the assist for the opening goal by Alejandro Papu Gomez. The victory over Sassuolo was significant because it gave Atalanta bragging rights as the leagues top provincial squad.Sassuolo set a club record by finishing sixth last season to qualify for the Europa League, an achievement Atalanta would like to emulate. In its 109-year history, Atalanta has spent 56 seasons in Serie A -- more than any other club which has never won the top division. Its only major trophy was the 1963 Italian Cup, besides six Serie B titles. Atalanta also reached the Cup Winners Cup semifinalls in 1988 while competing in Serie B -- one of the best performances by a non-first division club in a major UEFA competition.ddddddddddddThe club has also had its troubles, getting docked six points in 2011-12 for a widespread betting and match-fixing scandal that ended the career of club captain Cristiano Doni, who was arrested.Atalanta was also docked two points the following season but it managed to avoid relegation from Serie A on both occasions. With a population of 120,000, Bergamo is a mid-sized city that is considered part of the wider Milan metropolitan area, which made a 2-1 win over Inter Milan last month especially sweet.Gasperini, in his first season at Atalanta, was hardly given a chance at Inter, where he was fired after five winless matches in September 2011.Bergamo attracts many Milan residents for its airport that is home to low-cost airlines and the club is also a relatively low-cost affair.Atalanta, which pays its players a total of 24 million euros ($26.5 million) per season, is level on points with fourth-place Lazio, which pays its players more than twice as much.In July, Atalanta sold Marten de Roon to Middlesbrough for 14 million euros ($15 million), a year after paying Heerenveen 1.5 million euros ($1.6 million) for the Dutch midfielder. That helped Atalanta earn a 6 million euro ($6.5 million) profit in the offseason transfer market. Were enjoying the moment and it provides us with extra motivation to continue along this path, Gasperini said.Having helped launch the careers of players like Roberto Donadoni, Christian Vieri and Filippo Inzaghi -- plus current AC Milan standouts Riccardo Montolivo and Giacomo Bonaventura -- Atalanta has long been a starting spot for players who later achieved greatness. And with coaches like Marcello Lippi, Cesare Prandelli and Antonio Conte making stops in Bergamo, its also been on the road to managerial success. The clubs current fortune will be tested against Roma on Sunday and in games against Juventus and Milan -- the top three teams in the standings -- before the holiday break.Weve got a Tour de Force awaiting us until Christmas but weve got enthusiasm, Gasperini said. So lets see where it takes us.---Andrew Dampf on Twitter: Wholesale Jerseys ' ' '
